    POSITION DETAILS

    Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens, LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree programs and more than fifty workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 24,000 students.     LaGuardia Community College Adult and Continuing Education Division is seeking a Career and Experiential Learning Associate Director, who will continue to develop and foster relationships with community stakeholders, employer partners, students, faculty, and staff. Utilizing real-time labor market information tools to identify opportunities for placement activities, training initiatives, strategic planning opportunities, grant writing and curriculum development.  

    The successful candidate will report to the Director of the Career Development Center, and duties will include but not be limited to the following:

    ·         Perform outreach to cultivate successful relationships with local and regional employers with the goal of increasing full time job, internships and experiential learning opportunities for students and alumni;
    ·         Contribute to the development and growth of new initiative and existing programs based on employer needs and labor market research;
    ·         Assist with designing, developing, implementing, and sharing best practices around all employment related functions to include recruitment and enrollment, retention and completion, and transition to credit with faculty and staff;
    ·         Initiate and maintain communication with ACE program staff and LAGCC faculty to ensure visibility of market and business trends, participation in sector Advisory Boards, and Experiential Learning opportunities;
    ·         Analyze and prepare labor market reports and make recommendations about academic and workforce program development to ensure employer driven skills are developed upon completion;
    ·         Develop tailored presentations for employers based on pre-consultation knowledge about the employers’ specific recruiting goals, along with information on the corresponding academic degree and ACE programs, and curriculum LAGCC offers to meet employer's needs;
    ·         Develop partnerships with employers’ human resources professionals and hiring managers to assist them in developing strategic action plans for recruiting students and alumni;
    ·         Supervise and manage the recruitment and placement processes along with outcomes for the Workforce Development Certification and Training Programs;
    ·         Represent the Career and Technical Education Center within the College community and externally;
    ·        Provide leadership in career readiness and job development targeted towards students in ACE workforce development programs and manage employment specialist team.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    ·         Ability to develop strong partnerships with employers and economic development professionals; gather and analyze data to generate reports on high growth, emerging, and economically critical industries, and occupations, along with their related education and workforce needs.
    ·         5 to 8 years’ experience working within Human Resources, organizational development, and/or business development.

Reporting to the Vice President of Workforce Development and Continuing Education, the Fiscal Director is responsible for the overall fiscal administration of the Division of Workforce Development and Continuing Education working in tandem with Division staff and partners. In addition, the Fiscal Director has complete responsibility for the financial aspects of all the division's grants from reporting, budgeting, procurement, internal auditing, contract development and review. The incumbent does not have supervisory responsibilities. This position is partially grant-funded.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Participate in strategic planning sessions to evaluate current division and grant progress towards meeting fiscal goals and develop additional plans for fiscal and operational growth of the Division.
    • Responsible for the oversight and management of the Division's funds to ensure all expenditures are based on the proposed project and support the outcomes that were proposed and approved by funding agencies.
    • Oversee Division grants payable functions, coordinate preparation of purchase orders to ensure requests are within budget guidelines and coded according to budget component and funding source

    DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
    The Education Specialist (videographer/editor) provides media production services and assists with live broadcasts, long-form videos, audio records, and the development of web-based media assets.  Job duties include, but are not limited to:

    ·         Assist in the development of storyboards and timelines for video and web-based projects.  Work on scene blocking, lighting and composition on location or in the studio. Support staff in the studio or during field production in the following roles: Video Director, Technical Director, Camera Operator, Audio Operator, Producer, Character Generator Operator, and Teleprompter Operator.
    ·         Acquire both video and still images using a broad variety of camera systems.

    1)      Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization and a minimum of 2-4 years’ hands-on production background experience in video production.
    2)      Experience in electronic field production and graphic special effects production.
