    Job Title:    Instructor Of Applied Science and Technology

    DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

    Tompkins Cortland Community College seeks a dynamic and engaging faculty member to take on a grant funded tenure track position to help lead the growth and development of several engineering tracks in the Applied Science and Technology (AST) A.A.S. program, specifically in the areas of advanced manufacturing and civil engineering.

    This position will serve as Program Coordinator and Teaching Faculty with a reduced teaching load. Teaching assignments may involve teaching face-to-face, remote, day, evening, online, hybrid, and HyFlex courses, and will include holding regular office hours.

    As Program Coordinator, the position will be expected to:
    •       Work closely with relevant area workforce partners in Advanced Manufacturing and Civil Engineering.
    •       Utilize academic training and professional experience to develop the Advanced Manufacturing track, and microcredentials within the AST program.
    •       For the Civil Engineering track, work with expert consultants, adjunct faculty, and local partners to develop microcredentials or tracks within the AST program.
    •       Market programs, recruit students with the help of the College admissions and marketing teams and develop close ties with local partners.
    •       Seek additional grant funding to sustain program growth.
    •       Work with the office of workforce development at the College to ensure high placement rates for students of the program.

    As a teaching faculty, this position will:
    •       Initially teach 15 credits a year in the Applied Science and Technology program with a focus on student success, retention, and applied learning experiences.
    •       Serve as advisor to the students in the AST program.
    •       Be involved in assessing student learning and refining existing curriculum.
    •       Create and maintain an active Advisory Committee to help regularly assess the relevance of the curriculum to workforce needs.
    •       After the first three years, this position will shift to a more traditional teaching faculty position at the College. This will involve teaching 30 credits a year while maintaining advising, assessment, committee work, and continuing coordination of internships, and placements. However, some limited course/credit release may still be available after the grant ends.  

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    - Bachelor’s Degree in Degree in related field
    - 3 years’ experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or aligned field.
    -demonstrated understanding of current needs in the fields of advanced manufacturing.   

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    - Master’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
    - 5 years’ experience in the field of advanced manufacturing or closely aligned areas
    - Teaching and grant writing experience preferred
    - Established relationships with employers or academic institutions in the fields of advanced manufacturing

    Candidates with academic training in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and with experience in advanced manufacturing preferred, but those in closely related fields will also be considered.

    COMPENSATION: Salary is expected to be in the $42,267 - $59,085 range.  Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    3.    Four years’ experience in comprehensive child welfare programs and national and state legislation, performance standards and best practices;

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
