This position is a Research Foundation for The State University of New York (RF) position and is subject to The Research Foundation for SUNY policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines, and the availability of funding.

The Research Foundation for The State University of New York (RF) is a private non-profit educational corporation.  The RF is not an agency or instrumentality of the State of New York. RF employees are not state employees, do not participate in any state retirement system, and do not receive state fringe benefits. The RF operates under a contract with The State University of New York and receives no directly appropriated state funding.

The Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) reauthorized the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (Perkins IV) and continues providing funds for career and technical education (CTE) programs for our nation’s youth and adults.  The Grant funds fundamentally seek to develop more fully the academic knowledge and technical and employability skills of secondary education students and postsecondary education students who elect to enroll in career and technical education programs and programs of study, prepare students in postsecondary education for employment in high skill, high wage or in-demand jobs in current or emerging occupations. The Perkins Goal Coordinator focuses on overseeing and monitoring program compliance, activities relating to the evaluation and enhancement of CTE programs of study including data collection and reporting.  The Coordinator reports to the Grant Project Director.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Coordinate the Perkins Grant major efforts, monitor progress towards goals and outcomes, within Rochester Educational Opportunity Center (REOC).
  • Conduct the day-to-day tasks related to the monitoring of progress of CTE programs
  • Coordinate and monitor Perkins grant operations to ensure integrity in the delivery of these services.
  • Make recommendations on Perkins operations regarding performance outcomes to Project Director.
  • Work collaboratively with Research Foundation and REOC administrators, faculty and staff.
  • Respect Grant sponsor established protocols.
  • Facilitate report writing by monitoring the extent of major effort impact at REOC.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions; record grant expenditures in accordance with Perkins award and RF policy/procedures.
  • Maintain proper documentation as well as good fiscal record keeping for all grant activities.
  • Facilitate the preparation of REOC Perkins grant plan of action and projected goals and outcomes.
  • Participate and assist in career fair events, student graduation events and other facilitating activities as directed by Career Services Administrator in consultation with the grant project director.
  • Attend Career Services Team Meetings and events.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of student advising programs and activities related to workforce preparation, including; 1-on-1 workshops, classroom presentations, and employer coordination events.
  • Enter and upload pertinent student employment and contact information into online systems within outlined timeframe.
  • Assist students in obtaining employment through planning of activities that will enhance their skills in the world of work, including but not limited to resumes, interviewing skills, portfolios and job search strategies.
  • Manage vocational program caseload in coordination with assignments from Career Services Administrator and in consultation with the grant project director.
  • Engage community partners to offer workforce related services to target REOC students and alumni.
  • Perform other duties as needed by the Career Services Administrator and/or directed by the grant project director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, economics or related field from a regionally accredited college or university
  • One year work experience in grant or general accounting
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Demonstrated collaborator with strong interpersonal skills who can work effectively in a team setting of varied professional views to accomplish goals in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using MS Office products, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to compile and analyze data; prepare concise, accurate and timely reports
  • Ability to work with a culturally and ethnically diverse population

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned Master’s degree in business, accounting, economics or related field from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Two years’ work experience in grant or general accounting
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Perkins V reporting requirements

COMPENSATION: Salary is expected to be between $47,000- $50,000.
