    1.    Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization in Education, Public Administration, Business or related field.
    2.    Excellent communication (interpersonal, written, and verbal), customer service, and telephone skills.
    3.    Exceptional organizational skills including the ability to complete tasks with a strong attention to detail.
    4.    Knowledge and experience in the early childhood field, specifically child care.

    6.    Ability to sit for several hours and the ability to lift and carry 20 lbs. on a regular basis.

This position is responsible for planning, program development, staffing and management of assigned projects. Position provides project management on assigned projects.     MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    1)    Master’s degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization, in an appropriate field (adult continuing education, early childhood education administration, human services, public administration, management, or related field).
    2)    A minimum of five years of experience in providing leadership and managing the development of professional education programs, scholarship programs, large-scale project management involving program design, curriculum development and delivery of contracted training, or other related project management.
    3)    Three years of supervisory experience; experience in coaching, motivating, and developing staff.
    4)    Knowledge of the professional development needs of the early childhood workforce.
    5)    Knowledge of classroom and technology-based instructional methodologies.
    6)    Ability to form and lead a team to achieve objectives to meet desired goals of diverse project action plans.

    Job: Director of Academic Affairs - University Center for Academic and Workforce Development

    The State University of New York (SUNY), System Administration, invites applications for the position of Director of Academic Affairs in the office of the University Center for Academic and Workforce Development (UCAWD) in Albany, New York.

    Job Description:
    The Director of Academic Affairs will serve as the Chief Academic Officer for SUNY UCAWD and will have primary academic oversight for educational and training programs and special initiatives offered by the statewide system of Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC) and Advanced Technology Training and Information Networking (ATTAIN) Labs.  Reporting directly to the Associate Provost and Director of
    UCAWD, the Director of Academic Affairs, will be responsible for directing academic policies and learning strategies and ensuring that system wide goals and objectives are met.   This position will also serve as a system wide resource on technology based education and online instructional design.  This position is responsible for creating and sustaining an environment of academic and professional excellence for students and participants and a collaborative working environment with internal and external constituencies.

    DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

    • Responsible for the day-to-day oversight of all UCAWD educational and training programs and special initiatives throughout New York State;
    • Supervise, develop and evaluate Program and Development team members within UCAWD;
    • Ensures that UCAWD programs are prepared for effective remote teaching and learning;
    • Ensures that education and training programs are strategically consistent with University plans and goals for the delivery of academic and career training programs;
    • Responsible for reviewing labor market research, curriculum development, distance learning platforms, academic calendars, and program assessment within EOCs;
    • Develops policies for UCAWD programs that are consistent with current goals, objective and practices;
    • Coordinates system wide data collection, analysis and reporting for SUNY leadership, UCAWD and system stakeholders;
    • Responsible for the development and monitoring of standards for effectiveness based on  site reviews, campus reports, external studies and other comparative data;

    • Chairs UCAWD statewide committees (High School Equivalency and College Access and Opportunity) as appropriate;

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's degree and minimum of 8 years of progressive administrative and leadership experience in education and/or human services;
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
    • Educational technology experience; and
    • A minimum of five years of supervisory/personnel management experience.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Advanced or Doctoral degree in higher education, counseling, administration or related area;
    • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively as a leader or as a team member to ensure department goals are met;
    • Experience in developing relevant and engaging blending training content with a focus on virtual and online learning;
    • A proven record of program assessment and evaluation;
    • Experience working with low income and underrepresented populations, adults, families and youth at risk;

    Provide targeted training and training support, and other related activities to the assigned OCFS Region.  Activity will be determined through the needs assessment process and through agreement with the Division of Child Welfare and Community Services, Regional Offices, Youth Bureaus, local districts and voluntary agencies statewide to improve their performance and the achievement of better safety, permanency, and well-being outcomes for youth in care.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    •     Conducting local district, agency, and Regional Office needs assessments
    •     Developing training and post-training plans with local districts and identifying needed specialized training
    •     Providing consultation, coaching, and technical assistance to Regional Office, local districts, and voluntary agencies on professional development and other strategies to improve their practices
    •     Delivering training and providing post-training support services in a wide range of adolescent service areas, such as use of guidance regarding educational funding resources, youth engagement strategies, staff development strategies, program design and evaluation, etc.
    •     Developing and conducting one Youth Voice Event in the assigned region
    •     Providing training and skills development to youth in care
    •     Active involvement in OCFS initiatives to provide internship opportunities for Youth in Care at the regional level. Related activities may include recruitment, placement, oversight and job coaching
    •     Prepare and complete reports as requested


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    1.      Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization in Social Welfare, or a related field;
    2.      Two years’ experience in child welfare and/or juvenile justice including service delivery to adolescents;
    3.      Two years’ experience delivering instructional programs for adults and providing consultation;
    4.      Knowledge of recent federal and New York State child welfare initiatives;
    5.      Ability to analyze and interpret information about laws, regulations, policies, current research and best practice having impact on adolescent services;
    6.      Experience in conducting needs assessments;
    7.      Demonstrated proficiency with oral and written skills;

    2.     A broad knowledge base in areas of adolescence, human sexuality, and foster care systems;
    3.     Knowledge of adult education theory;
    4.     Familiarity with social media platforms;
    5.     Experience in curriculum development; and
    6.     Experience as a former foster care and/or juvenile justice involved youth.
