The Professional Development Program (PDP) of the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College seeks a service-minded individual who is committed to performing high-quality work to fill a Principal Education Specialist position in Albany, NY.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Project Director, the Department of Early Childhood Training Manager is responsible for management of large scholarship programs supporting professional development of NYS childcare providers, Health and Safety training activities, Medication Administration training activities, project support activities and Child Care training to support emerging needs. This position is responsible for planning, program development, staffing and management of assigned projects. Position provides project management on assigned projects. Responsible for staff supervision, quality assurance and sponsor relations. Assists in proposal and budget development.  As a member of PDP’s management team, leads and contributes to organizational initiatives as needed. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Oversee department scholarship programs, including establishing policies, procedures and systems that support programmatic and fiscal integrity of scholarship payments, oversee department direct training activities including needs assessments, content development, training delivery, training and program support and program evaluation, oversee a network of independent trainers authorized to deliver PDP curricula, including establishing processes and procedures in support of program fidelity and quality. Provide day-to-day management of project staff, including supervision, evaluation and hiring. Monitor and control project expenditures in accordance with established budget. Liaise with program sponsor and PDP operational teams. Prepare required reports and other project and organizational documents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1)    Master’s degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization, in an appropriate field (adult continuing education, early childhood education administration, human services, public administration, management, or related field).
2)    A minimum of five years of experience in providing leadership and managing the development of professional education programs, scholarship programs, large-scale project management involving program design, curriculum development and delivery of contracted training, or other related project management.
3)    Three years of supervisory experience; experience in coaching, motivating, and developing staff.
4)    Knowledge of the professional development needs of the early childhood workforce.
5)    Knowledge of classroom and technology-based instructional methodologies.
6)    Ability to form and lead a team to achieve objectives to meet desired goals of diverse project action plans.
7)    Applicants must address in their applications their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population.
8)    Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and computer skills.
9)    Ability to work variable days and work hours and travel throughout NYS, to areas that may not be served by public transportation, to plan and monitor trainings, participate in meetings, and present at conferences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1)    Thorough knowledge of NYS regulated childcare system and related continuous quality improvement initiatives.
2)    Prior management experience in a quality and continuous improvement environment.
3)    Prior management experience in development or delivery of training programs for the early childhood workforce.

COMPENSATION: Salary is expected to be $80,00-88,000 (amount is commensurate with experience).
