    Job Title: Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Student Success

    POSITION DETAILS

    The School of Professional Studies at the City University of New York (CUNY SPS) seeks an Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Student Success to provide leadership that ensures the delivery of an exceptional and transformative online student experience and supports retention and degree attainment across all programs. The Assistant Dean will lead the student experience and engagement strategy, academic support and advising, stakeholder engagement, assessment and reporting, and the development of the Student Affairs team.

    The Assistant Dean demonstrates visionary leadership and strategic planning. They serve as the primary advocate, directly addressing online student needs and providing resources to assist them during the course of their education. The Assistant Dean will have the opportunity to implement holistic, state-of-the-art practices tailored to support SPS students. They will serve as a senior member of the leadership team at CUNY SPS, reporting directly to the Dean.

    They will provide leadership encompassing:

    • Leading the day-to-day activities of the online student experience including advisement, retention, cocurricular student activities, and other student services at the School, creating a comprehensive and cohesive student experience and success plan.
    • Overseeing academic advisement along an operating model of reinvigoration goals, objectives and student support levels.
    • Develop and implement a best-in-class student online advisement and services model to set new standards in educational support including high-impact strategies designed to enhance the online student experience along the entire student life cycle, from enrollment to graduation, providing scalable and personalized support.
    • Evaluate student metrics, including student feedback, to fine-tune existing programs and develop new approaches.
    • Develop ongoing communication plans with online students across a variety of channels to assure students are well-informed of the services available to them.
    • Partner and collaborate with the enrollment team on engagement strategies for adult online students. Oversee student success outcomes assessment to significantly improve rates of adult student persistence and retention.
    • Develop practices to identify and immediately address student issues and complaints captured through polls, questionnaires, focus groups, evaluations, and meetings. Integrate and utilize such tools as predictive analytics to track online student challenges and design prompt responses to and resolutions for them.
    • Lead the Student Services team, which provide services in the areas of counseling, disability support, student life, career services, student conduct, and military and veteran services.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure excellence in all online student support systems throughout the School and speedy resolution of student issues and complaints in compliance with School and University policies and procedures.

    NOTE:

    • Until further notice, work will be performed in a hybrid manner with 70% onsite presence.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require
    -   a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and
    -   eight years' related experience.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    The preferred candidate will have a strategic mindset and demonstrated ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams.     • Master's degree from an accredited university in a related field

    • A minimum of seven years of experience in advisement or student services administration in higher education at a senior level

    POSITION DETAILS The Workforce Development Department prepares New Yorkers to begin and advance their careers through a variety of certificate education and training programs.  Based in LaGuardia Community College’s Division of Adult and Continuing Education, programs follow an industry-informed, student-centered, career pathways approach and span sectors such as healthcare, technology, construction, and more.

    Reporting to the Senior Director of Workforce Development, and coordinating closely with the Program Directors and Managers across the department, the Workforce Development Data, Reporting, and Performance Manager is responsible for the collection, analysis, and reporting of student and program data and outcomes, including student satisfaction, demographics, enrollment, successful completion, industry credential attainment, internship, employment, entry into college, and more.  This will include reporting to the college, division, department, and program leadership, as well as to several dozen grant funders.  The Workforce Development Data & Reporting Manager will collaborate closely with IT and ACE Enrollment Management to develop a local reporting database that meets the department’s reporting needs, as well as to improve, consolidate, and standardize the reports available through the division’s student information system.   The Workforce Development Data & Reporting Manager will develop processes, solutions, and training for staff to facilitate the efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility of collecting, analyzing and reporting student and program performance data.

    Key Responsibilities:

    · Manage the Workforce Development Department’s system and processes for collecting, analyzing, and reporting student data and program performance outcomes. Identify gaps and come up with strategies to improve data collection, analysis, and reporting.  Develop training, guides, and processes to help the team collect accurate and complete data in a timely fashion, and follow-up with the appropriate individuals as needed to ensure that this occurs.

    · Collaborate closely with IT and ACE Enrollment Management to develop a local reporting database that meets the department’s reporting needs, as well as to improve, consolidate, and standardize the automated reports available through the division’s Student Information System. Work with IT and program managers to ensure that key performance indicators for programs are able to be properly captured in the Student Information System.  Work with the team to ensure that they are able to enter the needed information into the Student Information System as well as pull the reports that they need for program operations and continuous quality improvement as well as reports to funders.

    · Pull reports on student and program performance for funders and for the department, division, and college leadership, including a comprehensive quarterly report. Become familiar with reporting requirements and systems of various grant funders, both public and private, and submit reports on student and program performance ahead of deadlines.  Respond to inquiries from funders, leadership, the press, employer partners etc for program and department outcome data.

    · Continuously strive to improve the quality and accuracy of student and program performance data. Look for gaps as well as inconsistencies and work to correct these and to improve systems and processes so that they do not occur in the future. 

    · Work with IT and the team to ensure that student privacy is protected and that the department’s data collection, storage, and reporting processes align with college policies around the protection of student data and FERPA regulations.

    · Create reports that are helpful to the team for continuous quality improvement. Support the team to become familiar with the data and to feel comfortable using it to understand and improve their programs on a regular basis.

    • Performance and Impact Analysis: monitor and analyze the effectiveness of workforce development programs, making data-driven decisions to continually improve and adapt strategies. Report on program outcomes and return on investment to senior administration.
    • Budget Management: oversee the budget for workforce development initiatives, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and effectively to support program objectives.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
