Topic: Supporting the LGBTQ+ Community in the Classroom and Beyond

Description:  This interactive workshop will discuss tactics to best support LGBTQ+ individuals within a multitude of settings.  We will discuss terminology, pronoun usage, and other best practices to support the LGBTQ+ Community.

Presenter: Emma Morcone (she/her/hers)

Emma Morcone is the LGBTQ Coordinator and Title IX Coordinator at SUNY New Paltz.  As an out member of the LGBTQ+ community, she is proud to serve as SUNY New Paltz's first LGBTQ Coordinator, where she provides broad support for students, faculty, and staff.   Emma also serves as president of STIXCA, the SUNY Title IX Coordinator Association. She specializes in the intersection of sexual violence within the LGBTQ+  community.  Additionally, Emma serves as a trainer for the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Center, providing trainings and workshops to various community organizations.
