The Professional Development Program (PDP) of the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College seeks a service-minded individual who is committed to performing high-quality work to fill a Senior Education Specialist-Child Welfare Trainer position in PDP’s Department of Child Welfare Training. This position is part-time (60% FTE) and located in Albany, NY with the option to work remotely, and requires regular travel throughout New York State.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Department Manager or designee, the Senior Education Specialist-Child Welfare Trainer works with the project team to conduct activities related to the design, development, and delivery of continuing professional education programming. Classroom training to be delivered statewide, in addition to conducting virtual/computer-based training. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Deliver training on working with alcohol and substance affected families to caseworkers and supervisors of local Departments of Social Service and voluntary agencies.
· Develop and deliver individualized training, consultation, and support needed for caseworkers in local district and provider agencies to meet emerging needs.
· Revise training materials as needed.
· Prepare and complete reports as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
2. Two years of experience working with children and families affected by substance misuse and knowledge of substance use disorders.
3. One year of experience in the delivery or development of instructional programs for adults and providing consultation.
4. Knowledge of recent federal and New York State child welfare initiatives.
5. Knowledge of adult education theory.
6. Excellent writing, speaking, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
7. Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
8. Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging, relative to their role.
9. Ability to handle multiple priorities/competing deadlines in a team setting.
10. Demonstrated proficiency in computer use, specifically Microsoft products.
11. Ability to travel regularly throughout NYS to deliver trainings and attend meetings, including travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation.
12. The ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
Preferred qualifications:
1. Master’s degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization in Social Welfare, or a related field.
2. A minimum of two years’ experience in child welfare services/child protective services.
3. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC).
4. Experience in curriculum development.
5. Experience in the delivery of web-based training
COMPENSATION: Salary is expected to be between between $40,000 and $44,700 (annual at 60% FTE)).
