The Professional Development Program (PDP) of the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College seeks a service-minded individual who is committed to performing high-quality work to fill a Senior Education Specialist (Training Focus) position within PDP’s Public Service Workshops Program in Albany, NY.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Under the direction of the program manager or designee, the Senior Education Specialist (Training Focus) provides instructor-led classroom-based training throughout New York State (NYS) to state employees from various agencies. This role is expected to collaborate with training and curriculum development teams and will serve as a master trainer for several courses. The Senior Education Specialist (Training Focus) will act in a lead role in coordinating training schedules to meet the needs of both the project sponsor and professional development for NYS trainers. The Senior Education Specialist (Training Focus) will also assist in the development and review of curriculum focused on the professional development needs of NYS employees when needed.  Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • ·    Providing instructor-led training (in-person and virtual) throughout NYS to state employees from various state agencies.
  • ·    Reviewing and monitoring curricula and written products to assure quality and conformance with project objectives.
  • ·    Maintaining complete records and preparing routine reports.
  • ·    Assisting preparation of materials for sponsors.
  • ·    Designing and developing curricula for classroom courses, including researching, designing, and developing course content and materials on an as-needed basis.
  • ·    Performing other duties as assigned to meet contract requirements.

 

This position is a full-time position primarily located in Albany, NY with potential for a hybrid telework schedule after an orientation period. The typical schedule is standard business hours Monday-Friday. This position also requires the ability to work variable days and work hours on occasion and includes limited travel throughout NYS to areas not served by public transportation.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1.        Master’s degree from a college or university accredited by USDOE, or an internationally recognized
 accrediting organization, in a related field.
2.        Five or more years’ experience conducting professional learning and development classes.
3.       
Demonstrated ability to effectively write, critique, develop and revise instructional design and project work plans, training objectives, curricula, and educational materials (print and electronic).
4.       
Knowledge of NYS workforce professional development program.
5.       
Experience providing training on supervisory skills topics.
6.       
Experience working in a supervisory role.
7.       
Experience with delivery, coordination, and/or evaluation of adult training programs including in-person, virtual, synchronous, and/or asynchronous modalities.
8.       
Knowledge of and experience training workers in a unionized environment

COMPENSATION: Salary is expected to be between $60,000 and $63,550

FLSA: Exempt
