    Job Title: Senior Education Specialist

    The Professional Development Program (PDP) of the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College seeks a service-minded individual who is committed to performing high-quality work to fill  a Senior Education Specialist within PDP’s Department of Child Welfare in Albany, NY.

    DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
    Under the direction of the Department Manager or designee, position works with the project team to conduct activities related to the design, development, and delivery of continuing professional education programming for caseworkers and supervisors of local Departments of Social Service and voluntary agencies to support effective casework practices.     2.    Three years’ experience in development and delivery of child welfare services and programs in NYS.
    3.    Experience in the delivery of instructional programs for adults and providing consultation.
    4.    Knowledge of recent federal and New York State child welfare initiatives.
    5.    Knowledge of adult education theory.
    6.    Excellent writing, speaking, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

    COMPENSATION:
    Salary is expected to  be $60,000-$61,699 annually, , commensurate with experience. This position features an added, one-time $1,500 sign-on bonus payable after successful completion of a six-month orientation period.

    DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
    Oversees and coordinates activities of the Homeless Services Training Resource System. These activities support and entail designing and delivering training for all levels of staff that implement homeless and housing services in the community with the goal of improved service delivery, reduced staff turnover, and better outcomes for unstably housed individuals and families. Serves as liaison to project sponsor, trainee population and other stakeholders; supervises project staff.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    ⦁    Coordinates/implements adult education/training programs for staff in homeless services including traditional classroom and synchronous on-line training as well as scripted and recorded asynchronous on-line programs for a geographically dispersed audience throughout NYS.

    ⦁    Serves as master trainer/conducts direct classroom training; facilitates meetings and focus groups as needed.
    ⦁    Keeps abreast of current practices and emerging trends related to homeless services in NYS, and latest trends and established best practices in the field of training design, curriculum development and training delivery methods, technologies, and tools.
    ⦁    Monitors evaluation results; works with project staff to develop and conduct surveys to evaluate training methods, and training program effectiveness.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    1.    Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
    2.    Minimum of five years of experience in developing and delivering adult training curriculum or teaching, or a combination of either and experience with homeless services and programs.
    3.    Working knowledge of adult learning principles and the instructional design process.
    4.    Strong presentation skills including developing effective presentation materials using tools such as MS PowerPoint.
    5.    Excellent communication (in particular, reading with attention to detail, writing, listening, and speaking), interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
    6.    Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines effectively with strong attention to detail.
    7.    Ability to manage (training program) outreach such as preparing announcements and posting schedule within an online recruitment and registration environment, respond to inquiries by email or phone, and maintain database of past and prospective participants.  
    8.    High level proficiency using a computer for organized work productivity and for creating work products including electronic mail, calendar, document sharing, document creation including templates, and project planning preferably using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
    9.    Staff supervisory experience.

    Job Title:  Education and Vocational Case Manager – at risk adults

    The School of Continuing and Professional Studies at Lehman College is seeking an experienced Education and Vocational Case Manager to recruit and support eligible candidates living at New York City public housing sites for the HRA Pathways program.

    Lehman’s HRA Pathways program supports qualified tenants living at specific New York City public housing sites in pursuing their education and career goals. The program provides education and career counseling for tenants to attend job-training or degree programs at CUNY campuses or approved non-CUNY schools. The program also provides funding for tuition, books, supplies, transportation, exam fees and professional licenses. It also provides job search support and stipends for unpaid internships.

    DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
    Full-time position with benefits, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
    Hybrid position: In-person at least 2 days a week at our main location, Hollis Gardens Apartments, at 203-04 Hollis Avenue, St. Albans NY. Occasional additional days on site at other public housing sites or Lehman College. The remainder of the work week will be remote.

    Reporting to the Program Director, the Education and Vocational Case Manager will:

    • Provide educational vocational counseling to tenants in public housing sites in Queens, the Bronx and Manhattan.
    • High-touch service to a caseload of approximately 30 to 40 tenants a semester.
    • Provide outreach and recruitment through orientation sessions at housing sites, a monthly newsletter, and direct outreach to tenants and housing site staff.
    • Assess tenants' interests, employment history, education level, and abilities in order to develop appropriate education and employment plans.
    • Research specific education and training programs that align with each tenant's goals and abilities.
    • Support tenants to ensure that they successfully complete their programs of study.
    • Follow up regularly with tenants in person and by pone, email, and virtual meetings.
    • Maintain case notes and input data to document all education and employment contacts in our online platform.
    • Distribute and track MetroCards, loaner laptops, loaner MiFis, and other benefits that the program provides to tenants.
    • Communicate with external and internal partners on behalf of tenants and the program.
    • Present workshops at housing sites, with or without external vendors, that will help participants develop and reach their personal, educational and career goals.
    • Pursue and develop collaborative relationships with employers and industry experts.
    • Assist the program director and program coordinator with specialized technical support including but not limited to online workshops, databases, benefits calculators and educational technology projects.
    • Assist the School of Continuing and Professional Studies with occasional projects.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree
    • Minimum of two years of experience working with underserved populations.
    • Education and vocational case management experience.
    • An interest in the complexities faced by adult learners receiving public assistance, and the willingness to assist them in working through multiple barriers to enroll in and complete education programs and/or find employment.
    • Flexibility in work location including two days a week in Hollis, Queens.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Good basic technology skills including email, phone, text and virtual meetings.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    ⦁    Monitor project staff schedule based on shared calendar and email for availability/attendance, and send email as needed to announce project staff absence to all stakeholders; assist with resolving unexpected issues with either onsite or online training delivery such as staff delays, last minute cancellations or technical glitches that interfere with courses starting timely.
    ⦁    Prepare logistical/classroom materials for trainers to bring to onsite training such as rosters, name tents, rooming lists, evaluation materials, handouts, travel packets used by participants for requesting travel reimbursements; assemble trainer crates with materials needed for onsite classes and coordinate pick-up and return with trainer for each offering; work with trainers to complete post-training/event tasks.
    ⦁    Work with trainers to format and finalize participant manuals within template and prepare for duplication either in-house or outsourced; prepare specifications for work orders and arrange for timely duplication.
    ⦁    Prepare, review for accuracy/compliance with policies, and submit purchase requisitions, travel vouchers, and invoices for payment; monitor payments and maintain fiscal files.
    ⦁    Assist with program support activities such as monitor training supplies and equipment inventory, curriculum library, and trainer resources; organize/help maintain project documents such as curricula, course handouts and reports on shared document site; help prepare/edit/proof-read training materials such as curricula and course handouts, presentation materials, training aids, and activities; ensure conformance with standards; assist with beta testing of training products.
    ⦁    Assist with compiling quarterly report to sponsor including maintain/update folder/file system used by all project staff in SharePoint; keep record of customer service and update training delivery table with current training data each quarter; prepare narrative component that reflects project support activity.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    1.    High school diploma and four years of progressively responsible office experience, or an associate degree or higher from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
    2.    General administrative/program/fiscal support experience.
    3.    Experience using tools such as MS Word and MS Excel for routine work productivity completing tasks such as creating new documents or revising and further preparing those created by others.  
    4.    Experience using tools such as MS Outlook for routine communication completing tasks such as fielding customer service type inquiries and taking appropriate action, receiving and responding to email, composing and sending email, maintaining and keeping track of email communications.
