Job Title: Adjunct Faculty, Bartending & Beverage Management
Location:    Tompkins Cortland Community College
Employment Date: Fall  2022

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Teach one or more courses in the Wine Marketing/Hospitality degree program. Organize, supervise and teach the students accurately the standards and methods of the basics of Mixology. Evaluate student performance through practice drills, written tests and practical examinations. Help maintain a good clean working environment by keeping the classroom and bar area in an organized sanitary condition, maintain accurate student testing and attendance records.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Beverage Management or a similar/related program such as Hospitality Management or Culinary Arts.
  2.  Ability to create perfect cocktail recipes and create engaging customer experiences alongside a willingness to continually learn, improve and be a team player that can share their talents with students. This instructor will train and mentor students and aspiring bartenders. This would involve educating them the right way of mixing and pouring drinks, proper bar professionalism, building customer relations and basics in management.
  3. Five recent years working professionally and consistently in a management and/or training capacity for a business or possessing professional credentials such as WSET or membership with the Bartenders Guild will be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree.
  4.  Evidence of professional training and excellence in this profession is required. Candidates must be able to demonstrate efficient and updated methods of using the technology/software required for assigned courses.
  5. Bartending Instructor qualifications:
    • Experienced Bartender (5 yrs. minimum)
    • With proximity/transportation to Ithaca location
    • Licensed to serve alcohol -TIPS Certification or SERVSAFE Alcohol is a requirement, proctor preferred
    • Must be willing to teach days/evenings and possibly Saturday AM.
    • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits
    • Mixology knowledge and proper sanitation and safety protocols
    • Inventory management

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s degree in hospitality or a field directly related to skills required in the field is preferred.  
  2. Experience teaching college-level courses, with an ability to teach in person, and in a remote environment is preferred.

COMPENSATION: Salary range per credit hour $925.00-$1,130.00 depenDent on experience
