The Career Development Center at the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Associate Director.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Career and Academic Planning and Continuing Education, the Associate Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the office, including supervising student support and clerical staff; coordinating career services and programming; analyzing and communicating employment trends, employer needs and other career-related matters; and assessing and improving, with guidance from the Director and Academic Affairs administration, the delivery model for career advisement and support on campus.
Duties include but not limited to:
⦁ providing a range of career counseling, career readiness, internship advisement, job search, and graduate/professional school admission services to students and alumni;
⦁ making presentations about office services, career options and planning, internship opportunities, resume and cover letter writing, job search strategies, interviewing, and graduate/professional school admission to classes and student groups;
⦁ implementing student/employer outreach and relationship building strategies, including employer recruitment efforts, scheduling employer visits and interviews;
⦁ supporting experiential learning development (internships, job shadow) and registration using Handshake;
⦁ providing leadership in the management and dissemination of internship support funds and fellowships;
⦁ teaching career development course(s);
⦁ collaborating with other offices to provide exploratory program for undecided students;
⦁ expanding office marketing through social media outreach and other various platforms;
⦁ participating on the academic & career planning team;
⦁ connecting employers in advisory/informational roles to assist students and alumni;
⦁ assisting with office event planning including career and job fairs;
⦁ providing leadership and daily supervision of the office staff, including professional and student employees;
⦁ assisting the Director with evaluation and assessment efforts, generating surveys and reports to facilitate data collection and progress reports;
⦁ representing the office on various campus-wide committees, and events; and
⦁ working nights and weekends as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
⦁ master's degree
⦁ a minimum of 3 years of experience in career services, employer relations, college relations or recruitment
⦁ knowledge of best practices in employment trends, best practices in career development, and job search strategies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
⦁ two or more years' experience in undergraduate career counseling/advising
⦁ experience using career services technology such as Handshake, Focus 2, and Big Interview
⦁ experience developing quality experiential learning and career opportunities in public/private sectors
⦁ experience creating effective communication/marketing plans
⦁ outstanding presentation skills across different formats and tailored for different audiences
⦁ experience supervising professional staff
⦁ experience working with and serving diverse populations.
