Orange County Community College (SUNY Orange), located in the scenic Hudson Valley, is a multi-campus College with locations in the cities of  Middletown and Newburgh, NY.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The Assistant Director of Workforce Development is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the Workforce Solutions unit of the Continuing and Professional Education department in the following key areas: Programming, Marketing and Sales, Finance and Administration, Technology, and Outreach and Partnerships.

The Workforce Solutions unit will support the creation of opportunities focused on:
(1) helping students be recognized for their skills and facilitating access to employers and high-quality jobs, and
(2) providing high-impact solutions to local employers including strengthening their employee's skills and competencies through customized workforce development training and services.

Key to the Assistant Director's success will be developing and managing strong strategic partnerships with employer partners, and creating and managing a portfolio of training programs and other educational related activities based on client, partner, and student needs.

This position is charged with:

-  Generating revenue in excess of the unit's operating budget and shared costs.
-  Commitment and eagerness to engage in equity-minded and high performance practices.

-  Will be required to work a flexible schedule as needed, and travel between the College's two campuses and other sites.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1- Bachelor's Degree or higher
2- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant administrative experience in education, training, or workforce development program management    

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience conducting needs assessments and strategic learning assessments to identify the educational needs of others and develop education or training programs or classes
  2. Experience developing and maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships with others
  3. Experience with representing organizations to customers, the public, government, or other external sources
  4. Knowledge of principles and methods for presenting, promoting, and selling products or services
  5. Knowledge of policies, systems, and operations typical to community college workforce development or continuing education departments and programs
  6. Experience developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work
  7. Ability to independently work in a rapidly changing environment executing projects in various stages with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
  8. Experience exercising a strong service orientation
  9. Experience monitoring and controlling resources, overseeing the spending of money, and accounting for these expenditures

COMPENSATION:
Salary commensurate with experience.  This is a 12 month, Staff & Chair Grade 50 position with a budgeted annual salary of  $49,486 to $54,847.

FLSA: -Exempt
